The trouble started with this image when the client said, "I need a Water Goddess camouflaged in the streams falling through a forest (I guess Bev Dolittle was all the rage at that time), and I need finished art in 2 weeks!" I knew there was no time to make a preparation study so I just jumped right into the painting with no time to really think about where things should go. Now there are many excellent artists who understand a problem immediately and solve it on the run; this client should have hired one of those guys because I don't work that way: I need to think about things for a while.
